Yes, I think the americans were justified in fighting a war for liberty and freedom even though they maintained slavery. Sometimes in history people need to fight for one cause before another cause can be conquered. Slavery could not be abolished before Americans had freedom and liberty themselves. Once they were free, then Americans could concentrate on abolishing slavery. It may have taken too long to do this, but eventually it was done.
Voting of sourse was restricted as women and balcks were not allowed to vote, This was simply due to the acceptance of all kinds of people. It was unfortunate, but it happened. the only restrictions on voting today, in my opinion would be on mentally ill people. If they are unable to study and understand the goals of the candidates running in an election, perhaps they should be limited in voting. Although, they have the right, perhaps they are incapable of understanding the process.
